about hannah

Hannah Descartin is a Chicago-based actor and singer from Houston, Texas. Raised in a Filipino household and constantly surrounded by music (and karaoke), Hannah quickly gained an appreciation for the performing arts. From piano recitals at age 7 to middle school band concerts with her flute, to guitar recitals in high school to teaching learning the ukulele in her college dorm, Hannah's love for music has been strong and steady.

High school is also where Hannah's passion for acting grew, as she became involved with the theatre department and participated in plays and musicals whenever possible. She chose to pursue her dreams of becoming an actor and received her BFA in Acting from Oklahoma City University.

Hannah's studies emphasized Stanislavski and Laban, as well as the works of William Shakespeare and Anton Chekhov. In between her required classes, Hannah continued practicing her instruments and singing at open mic nights when possible. She graduated from OCU cum laude, and as a member of the Honors Program.

Having found immense joy in teaching, Hannah currently holds two teaching positions. As a longtime vocal instructor, she aims to help each of her students achieve healthy breathing and vocal techniques while singing in every genre they choose while cultivating a welcoming and transparent environment. She also teaches beginner piano, ukulele, and guitar, as well as acting techniques to students of all ages. Additionally, Hannah works as a children's musical theatre teacher, directing weekly rehearsals until the kids' big show at the end of the session.

Hannah is also an artist who specializes in acrylic painting and needle felting. She also enjoys working with resin to create jewelry, and she is (slowly but persistently) becoming familiar with candlemaking. She is also a big fan of glitter.
